Skill Building Saturdays

Skill Building Saturday is designed to give typers and their teams of facilitators concentrated time to practice working on their skills and to develop a plan for continuing practice.

Whether you are just getting started or refining skills of open-ended communication, this workshop will support skill development and interaction so that the communicator:

  • Builds a fluent rhythm
  • Works on independent pointing, understands least-to-most strategy for fading support
  • Develops signals for initiation
  • Facilitators will also fine tune their support in detail and learn how to build fluency, promote the communicator in their interactions, and problem-solve moments of breakdown.

Skill building sessions are typically held on Saturdays. However, they can be arranged on weekdays by special request.

ICI Trainers welcome typers and their teams, to help them focus on building and maintaining rhythm, fading support, develop signals for initiation, etc. Facilitators will also fine tune their support in detail and learn how to build fluency, promote more consistent interactions, and problem-solve moments of breakdown. It's a great way for teams to enjoy one-on-one attention from ICI trainers and work through specific typing challenges.

It is recommended (but not necessary) that typer attend with more than one facilitator (limited to 5 facilitators) to get the most out of workshop activities. Paid parking is available across the street at the Sheraton garage and metered street parking is available. You may bring your own food and beverages.
