A still from Intelligent Lives

The School of Education is proud to support the Syracuse International Film Festival and the Douglas Biklen Imaging Disability in Film Showcase, named for Dean Emeritus Douglas Biklen.

This year’s Douglas Biklen Disability Showcase will feature Intelligent Lives, a new documentary from Dan Habib. Intelligent Lives stars three pioneering young American adults with intellectual disabilities – Micah, Naieer, and Naomie – who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with film subject Micah Fialka-Feldman ’15 (Outreach Coordinator at the Taishoff Center for Inclusive Higher Education) and filmmaker Dan Habib. The Taishoff Center will host a brief reception outside of Shemin following the event.

This event is FREE for School of Education students with your SUID. Film is captioned. Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) and ASL Sign Language Interpreting will be provided for the Q&A. If you have additional request for accommodations or questions, please contact or 315.443.4696.
